Behind the Music: Journey to "Epilogue"

III. B Deluxe

B album was suppose to be a representation of me. Not only showcasing my skills as a cinematographer but as a vocalist as well. I was not truly focused on that Album.. jumping from one project to the next..with no clear direction. There were a lot of great ideas tossed around during that album season. Maybe if I could've focused on them one at a time I could've produced so much more during that era.

Was this around the time you was going through a break up ? Yes it was...uhm.. actually B& B Deluxe was actually already out and over with.. It was a new year and I was writing somethings for another project. I meet my sisters WiSH at this time as well. Meeting them and going through that break up is what produced “Phoenix.” I'm sensing some disappointment when you speak about B & B Deluxe albums? Well to a degree I am, B Deluxe was a descent run but I do not think that is was the best album. “But you also did an Deluxe Edition.” Yes, that was more so for the fans. I had a lot of unfinished projects during that time. Videos that never got made, a tour that I never had a chance to fulfill. Juggling a company at the uphill battle to success..very difficult time.. now add in a bad break up..a beating..but it shaped me at the same time. Not only that.. once you reach a certain peak you start to sike yourself out and think “can I do this again, can I be as or more successful as I was last album?

”B & B Deluxe wasnt successful as Access Granted album wise, but BosQueen clearly had left a mark in the industry at this point. With “Rhythm Nation winning 2015 video of the year” and being the first artist to speak openly(video) about world/cultural topics.

What made you include this strong message in your video? Like most people these killings of black males affected me & my community. It could've been my brother, cousin, uncle, father or boyfriend. Not only that but what Sistah Souljah was saying ..spoke to me spiritually. That little segment was so powerful. The way she commanded the entire room; black, white, male and female, she controled it with knowledge and truth. Our youth and generation needed to hear/see this.
